Montara has to be one of best jazz funk/groove albums of the 70's, the album just oozes a quiet-storm meets Latin-funk vibe.
I always liked "Camel Rise" the most on the album, the track bubbles underneath and simmers until the Latin groove completely spills out over the rim. Montara is not in any way a light weight smooth jazz record believe me, but it is worthy of chillin' out to.
Among the musicians on the album are notables like Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Harvey Mason on drums, and Ernie Watts on flute. This particular vinyl copy ran me about $40 several years ago, Montara is certainly not a rare record, but definitely in demand.
