Hello, my name is Jason. The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my experience as a jazz lover, and jazz record collector. Since 2005 I have been collecting records, Blue Note so happens to be the label I focus on the most. I love the music, and I love expressing the joy I get from the music through the reviews of the individual albums.
The Blue Note label is the label I have learned the most about, and truthfully, outside of Miles Davis' Columbia Records output, it is the one music I could not live with out.
I am not a trained writer: By the way, all that means honestly is I don't pay people to edit my work. I do try to go through and tidy things up, but alas, I am much better at putting my thoughts down than editing them. I try to write as I am, no B.S., just what I feel, good or bad. I know I am a better writer than I was at the beginning of this journey.
The Collecting Tips:
Almost every thing I have learned about Blue Note Record collecting is from trial and error, and reading practically everything I could about the label, both collecting and the music.
Most of what I say in the blog is common knowledge and can be found on any number of sites. So all I have done is interpret facts the best way I can by filtering it through my own collecting experience.
If you notice an error or omission, by all means please feel free to comment below, or use this email address for that or any other inquires: Blue-Note-Collector@Outlook.com
I am more than willing to answer any questions about record collecting or jazz music in general. If I can't give you a good answer, I will refer you to someone or an article that can.
Update March 20th 2016:
I have decided to re-purpose this blog to be more about the music its self, and less about the collecting angle. In the coming days I am going to start another site that specifically focuses on the collecting part of Blue Note with collecting tutorials and other thoughts specifically as a collector.
I think this will better focus the sites for who they serve. Of course many people have an interest in both topics. I will have ample linking to both sites, if one does have an interest in the other.
